Steph (smiling maniacally, clawing her hands dramatically): I treated my boyfriend to the date from hell!
Tim (putting his hands on her shoulders): No! I want to hear everything, everything you feel, everything you experience, even if it hurts to hear it! I mean, what’s a date supposed to be, anyway? All parades and candy and tra la la? This is what it’s all about.
Steph (hugging him): Well, tra la la isn’t so bad once in a while either, sweetie.

Seriously, I love this page. Steph is fantastic as always, and Tim genuinely wants to be there for her, even if she’s dealing with stuff that’s over his head. This was why I liked them back in the day. He’ll sit and listen to her talk about her childhood and how she was almost sexually assaulted once, and when he gets angry she’ll remind him it isn’t about him, and he’ll back off and let her talk and tell her he wants to be there for her for everything she feels, and he doesn’t care about having a “nice” date, because he knows a relationship is really about understanding and supporting the other person, and really listening to them. And she reminds him back that everything doesn’t have to be hardcore feelingstime angst, they can still relax and have fun together (something Tim DESPERATELY needs to be told).
This is the Tim and Steph of my heart, and the Tim of my heart. He still didn’t completely act like he was genuinely interested in kissing and sex a lot (it was v. easy to read him as panromantic ace even in this run) but he WAS a genuinely good friend and partner to Steph, who also happened to be a really awkward, insecure dork.
